Apopka Community Mourns Three Teenagers Killed in Tragic Rollover Crash

APOPKA, Fla. — Authorities have identified the three teenagers — including a 13-year-old boy — who lost their lives in a devastating rollover crash early Sunday morning in Apopka. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. when six teens were traveling in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado along Welch Road near Wekiwa Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the truck veered off the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.

Three of the teens were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others — including the 17-year-old driver, a 15-year-old, and a 14-year-old — were rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Troopers are continuing to investigate what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Preliminary findings revealed that four of the six teens were not wearing seatbelts, including two of the victims who died, underscoring the ongoing concern over seatbelt use among young drivers.

The tragic loss has left the Apopka community reeling. Vigils, fundraisers, and heartfelt tributes have poured in for the young victims, whose lives were cut tragically short. One of the victims, Enrique, was described on a GoFundMe page as “kind and outgoing, with a big heart” who “always brought joy to those around him.” Another, Julio, was remembered as a “vivid young man” who cared deeply for his mother and touched many with his warmth and generosity.

Friends, teachers, and classmates have expressed profound grief on social media, sharing memories of laughter, friendship, and the special qualities that made each of the boys unforgettable. The tragedy has prompted local schools and community organizations to offer counseling services and emotional support to help students and families cope with the loss.

As the investigation continues, authorities have not released details about possible contributing factors such as speed, weather, or distractions. However, the FHP has renewed its call for seatbelt awareness and safe driving education, especially among teenagers. Officials stressed that even small safety measures — like wearing a seatbelt — can make the difference between life and death.

The heartbreak has united the Apopka community in collective mourning and reflection. Residents have come together in solidarity, offering prayers, donations, and comfort to the grieving families. The crash serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the critical importance of road safety — lessons now etched deeply into the heart of this devastated community.
