APOPKA, Fla. — Authorities have identified the three teenagers — including a 13-year-old boy — who lost their lives in a devastating rollover crash early Sunday morning in Apopka. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. when six teens were traveling in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado along Welch Road near Wekiwa Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the truck veered off the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.
Three of the teens were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others — including the 17-year-old driver, a 15-year-old, and a 14-year-old — were rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Troopers are continuing to investigate what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Preliminary findings revealed that four of the six teens were not wearing seatbelts, including two of the victims who died, underscoring the ongoing concern over seatbelt use among young drivers.
