18-Year-Old Donovan Encinia killed in Fatal Shooting on Secretariat Drive in Corpus Christi, TX

An 18-year-old has been identified following a fatal shooting Monday afternoon in Corpus Christi. Authorities say the violence unfolded in a residential neighborhood on the 1900 block of Secretariat Drive, leaving a young life cut short and investigators working to determine exactly what happened.

The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim as Donovan Encinia, 18. According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 3 p.m. on February 16, 2026. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Encinia suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began providing first aid.

Encinia was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, he later died from his injuries. Police have not yet released additional medical details, but investigators confirmed that multiple shots were fired during the incident.

Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a disturbance related to services being performed at the home. Madeleine Commons, Public Information Officer for the Corpus Christi Police Department, stated that the conflict escalated after a disagreement over services rendered. “It was later determined that there was a disturbance over services rendered and a weapon was produced,” Commons said. However, police have not clarified whether Encinia was the worker or the homeowner involved in the dispute.

Investigators reported that at least 12 shell casings were visible at the scene, suggesting a significant exchange of gunfire. At least two individuals, including witnesses, were detained for questioning and transported to the department’s main station, where detectives with the criminal investigations division conducted interviews. Officials have not yet confirmed who fired the weapon or whether a firearm has been recovered.

Police emphasized that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood. The investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence and conducting interviews. Authorities said any potential charges will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
