67-Year-Old Donald Hawck killed in Fatal Morning Crash in Elberton

A fatal single-vehicle crash Monday morning in Elberton has claimed the life of a 67-year-old man, according to the Elbert County Coroner’s Office. The incident occurred during daylight hours, drawing a large emergency response and leaving the local community mourning another life lost on area roadways.

Elbert County Coroner Chuck Almond said the crash happened at approximately 9:02 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2026, in the area of Willis Drive and Calhoun Falls Highway. Authorities were alerted to the crash and quickly dispatched emergency crews to the scene after receiving reports of a serious accident involving a single vehicle.

When first responders arrived, they found the driver had suffered fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as Donald B. Hawck, 67, of Elberton. Officials have not released details about where Hawck was traveling at the time of the crash or what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist with emergency operations and traffic control.
