A violent altercation in the early hours of New Year’s Day turned deadly in Jackson County, North Carolina, leaving one man dead and another behind bars. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Desmond Tyrelo Cruell. Deputies said Cruell was shot during an altercation that happened Thursday morning near the Cagle Branch community.
