Authorities in Pensacola are investigating a deadly stabbing that claimed the life of a man inside a local business early Monday morning. The Pensacola Police Department (PPD) has identified the victim as 57-year-old Dean Edward Chambers, who was found dead inside an office on Davis Highway.
According to police, the grim discovery was made by an employee at AA Top Shop, located on the 4000 block of Davis Highway. The employee reportedly arrived at work and found Chambers unresponsive in one of the offices. Emergency responders were called to the scene, where Chambers was pronounced dead from apparent stab wounds.
Investigators say Chambers was familiar to staff at AA Top Shop and had been leasing space from the business. Police believe he may have been inside the building during or shortly before the attack occurred. Forensic teams spent several hours at the scene collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses as detectives worked to determine what led to the fatal encounter.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have not released any details regarding a possible suspect or motive. Authorities have also not confirmed whether the killing was targeted or random. The area surrounding the business was temporarily blocked off Monday morning as officers continued their investigation and canvassed nearby properties for surveillance footage.
The Pensacola Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 850-435-1900. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers, as investigators seek to piece together the final hours leading up to Chambers’s death.
