Temple Woman Cynthia Stanford Killed in Deadly Rollover on Hwy 317

TEMPLE, Texas — A Monday afternoon crash on Hwy 317 turned deadly after a single vehicle rolled over, killing a 62-year-old woman, according to the Temple Police Department. The incident happened in the middle of the day and has left authorities investigating what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Temple police identified the victim as Cynthia Stanford, 62. Officers were called to the area of Hwy 317 and Airport Road around 3:24 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, after receiving reports of a serious accident. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene.

When officers arrived, they found a white SUV that had rolled over after leaving the roadway. Police said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Hwy 317 when it went off the road near Airport Road. The SUV entered a ditch and then flipped over, causing severe damage.

Stanford was pronounced dead as a result of the crash, police said. Authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported and that Stanford was the only person involved in the accident. It remains unclear what caused the SUV to leave the roadway.

Investigators are continuing to examine the crash scene and review all possible factors, including road conditions, vehicle speed, and whether any mechanical issues may have played a role. At this time, police have not said if weather or other external factors contributed to the rollover.
