Cornelius Stuckey Killed in Broad-Daylight Shooting on Longwood Cove, Two Suspects in Custody

A shooting in Yazoo County turned deadly Saturday afternoon, leaving one man dead and prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities. The incident unfolded in a residential area, drawing a rapid response from deputies and emergency crews as neighbors looked on in shock.

According to officials, the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 12:05 p.m. on January 3 reporting a shooting on Longwood Cove. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, they found one adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies quickly began administering life-saving measures in an effort to stabilize the victim.

Emergency responders with Pafford Emergency Services arrived shortly after and took over medical care. The victim was transported by ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Yazoo City for further treatment. Despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, the man’s injuries proved fatal.

Authorities later identified the victim as Cornelius Stuckey, 33. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. News of his death has deeply affected family members, friends, and members of the community, who are now mourning a life lost to violence.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that two male subjects connected to the shooting have since surrendered voluntarily. Both individuals are currently being held at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility.
