SODUS, N.Y. — A quiet Friday morning turned tragic in Wayne County after a head-on crash claimed the life of a 77-year-old man from Red Creek. The deadly collision occurred along Route 104 near Route 14 in Sodus, leaving one driver dead and another hospitalized with injuries. The incident has shaken the local community as authorities continue their investigation.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene around 7 a.m. on Friday following reports of a serious two-vehicle crash. Investigators said Claude Krieger was traveling eastbound on Route 104 when his vehicle suddenly crossed into the westbound lane for reasons that have not yet been determined.
Krieger’s vehicle then collided head-on with an oncoming car. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to both vehicles and prompting a large emergency response. First responders, including firefighters and paramedics, arrived quickly to assist those involved and secure the scene along the busy stretch of highway.
Tragically, Krieger was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding what may have caused his vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic.
