ST. LOUIS — Police are investigating a deadly shooting that took place inside a south St. Louis restaurant Monday afternoon, leaving a young man dead and the community shaken. The incident happened in broad daylight in a busy neighborhood, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to a shooting shortly after 1 p.m. at the 8th Street Restaurant located in the Soulard neighborhood. Emergency responders rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead. Police have identified the victim as Christopher Frye-Pleasant, 22, of St. Louis. His death is now being investigated as a homicide.
