19-Year-Old Cam’ron Hallingquest killed in fatal Shooting in Augusta, Georgia

A quiet Wednesday evening in Augusta turned into a heartbreaking scene after a 19-year-old was shot and later died at a hospital. The shooting happened on Winesap Way, a neighborhood residents describe as calm and usually free from serious crime. By nightfall, flashing blue lights, deputies, and investigators had filled the street as authorities worked to piece together what happened.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Cam’ron Tyreece Ja’vion Hallingquest, of Williston. Deputies were called to the 3400 block of Winesap Way around 7:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Hallingquest suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical crews rushed him to Wellstar Medical Center for treatment.

Despite efforts to save him, Hallingquest was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m., according to authorities. Mark Bowen said an autopsy has been scheduled as investigators continue working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials have not yet released details about a possible suspect or what may have led to the gunfire.

The scene remained active for hours after the shooting. Violent crime investigators and crime scene technicians stayed until about 10:30 p.m., carefully collecting evidence. A large number of deputies were on site, along with K-9 units and drones. Crews from News 12 reported seeing investigators focusing closely on a damaged vehicle parked in the yard of the home.

The vehicle appeared to have visible damage and debris scattered across it. Detectives photographed the car before a tow truck removed it around 10:20 p.m. However, authorities have not confirmed how the vehicle is connected to the shooting. The home itself also showed damage to its side wall, raising more questions about what may have occurred in the moments before deputies arrived.

Neighbors said the area is normally quiet, with speeding cars being the most common concern. Many expressed shock that such violence happened so close to home. The investigation remains ongoing, and the sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 706-821-1020. Callers can remain anonymous as authorities work to bring answers to a grieving family and community.
