A tragic shooting on Sunday evening claimed the life of a 40-year-old man at a Glendale apartment complex located near the busy Westgate Entertainment District. Police identified the victim as Braulio Parra Sillas, who was found dead near the front entrance of the building after officers responded to reports of gunfire. The incident has left the community shaken, especially given its proximity to a high-traffic area filled with shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
According to the Glendale Police Department, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Officers were already in the area conducting routine traffic control near 93rd Avenue and Entertainment Boulevard when they heard three gunshots ring out. They also reported hearing people shouting nearby, prompting them to rush toward the sound to determine what had happened. When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they discovered Sillas lying near the doorway with critical gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives quickly secured the area and took several individuals into custody, including the suspected shooter. Authorities believe the shooter was inside one of the apartments at the time of the incident.
