A quiet Tuesday morning in Macon turned into a heartbreaking tragedy after an attempt to serve an eviction notice ended in a deadly shooting that claimed three lives. The shocking incident happened in a residential neighborhood and has left the community stunned as authorities continue to investigate what led to the violence.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, a civil deputy arrived at a home in the 1100 block of Ridgeview Circle around 10:16 a.m. to serve eviction paperwork. Officials said that as the deputy approached the residence, gunfire suddenly erupted from inside the house. Investigators reported that three shots were fired in the direction of the deputy, creating an immediate and dangerous situation.
A large number of law enforcement officers quickly responded to the scene. Patrol vehicles and emergency units filled the street as authorities secured the area. For hours, deputies worked carefully outside the home before eventually making entry shortly after noon. Neighbors watched from a distance as the tense situation unfolded, unsure of what they would discover inside.
Once inside the residence, deputies found two women deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities identified them as 49-year-old Brande Summers and 21-year-old Haliegh Summers. According to Leon Jones of the Bibb County Coroner, Ray Summers later died from his injuries just before 5 p.m. Authorities also confirmed that two animals were found dead inside the residence.
