Pregnant Woman Killed, Newborn on Life Support After Flint Shooting

FLINT, Mich. — A pregnant woman was killed and her newborn baby placed on life support after a shooting on Flint’s south side Tuesday evening. The tragedy has left friends, family, and neighbors mourning and searching for answers.

The shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Browning Avenue, according to the Flint Police Department. Family members identified the victim as 34-year-old Ashley Williams, who was 36 weeks pregnant at the time. Doctors were able to successfully deliver Williams’ son, though the newborn was immediately placed on life support in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hurley Children’s Hospital.
