Maryland couple, William Hayes & Jenna Hayes were fatally shot at their home; Anthony Reyes arrested

A sense of heartbreak and disbelief has swept through Pasadena, Maryland, after a married couple was found shot to death inside their home on Sunday afternoon. Anne Arundel County Police identified the victims as 56-year-old William “Charlie” Hayes and 54-year-old Jenna “Jeanna” Hayes, whose lives were taken in what investigators are calling a targeted attack. The incident has shaken a quiet, close-knit neighborhood that rarely sees violent crime and is known for its peaceful, family-oriented atmosphere.

Police responded at around 1:55 p.m. to the couple’s residence on the 1700 block of Twickenham Road after someone inside the home called 911 to report a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered Charlie and Jeanna suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency responders’ efforts. News of the double homicide spread quickly, sending shockwaves through the Long Point Community, where many residents had already decorated their homes for the holiday season.

Investigators soon identified 61-year-old Anthony Louis Reyes of Nottingham, Maryland, as the suspect. Reyes was known to the couple and, according to police, had both a personal and business relationship with the family. Around 6:27 p.m., officers spotted his black Toyota Camry with out-of-state plates on Bluestone Street in Hanover. When they attempted to pull him over, he fled, initiating a pursuit that ended on 97 South near Quarterfield Road. Reyes resisted arrest before being taken into custody; during the struggle, an officer sustained minor injuries. Reyes now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder.

Authorities revealed that the Hayes’ adult granddaughter lived at the residence but was not home at the time of the shooting. Police Chief Amal Awad described the situation as “terribly horrific,” especially occurring so close to the holidays. She emphasized how rare such violence is in the Long Point Community, a place known for its waterfront homes, family gatherings, and strong neighborhood bonds. The sudden loss of the Hayes couple has left many residents shaken and seeking comfort in one another.

Charlie and Jeanna Hayes were widely respected in Pasadena. They owned CW Hayes Home Improvement, a business known for its craftsmanship and strong local reputation. Friends, customers, and neighbors have been posting tributes across social media, remembering the couple as hardworking, kindhearted, and deeply devoted to their family. Many described them as people who went out of their way to help others, earning admiration and gratitude throughout the community.

As the investigation continues and detectives work to determine a motive, Pasadena is left grieving two cherished lives taken far too soon. The community has rallied around the Hayes family, offering prayers, condolences, and support during this devastating time. While answers may still be forthcoming, the memory of Charlie and Jeanna—two beloved figures whose presence meant so much—will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew them.
