BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the tragic shooting death of 30-year-old Anson Quandarius Henderson, who was killed on the morning of Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the Collegeville neighborhood. The senseless act has left family, friends, and the community heartbroken as authorities continue to search for answers.
According to police, around 10:14 a.m., officers from the North Precinct were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 3200 block of 32nd Street North. While responding, they spotted a vehicle speeding away from the area and conducted a traffic stop, believing it might be connected to the incident. Moments later, the call was updated to report a shooting. Upon arriving at the residence, officers found Henderson lying unresponsive on the front porch. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived but sadly pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the tragedy began as a domestic altercation earlier that morning between Henderson and his child’s mother. After the argument ended and she left the home, another vehicle reportedly arrived, and the suspect opened fire, striking Henderson multiple times before fleeing. Police are actively pursuing leads to determine the suspect’s identity and motive behind the shooting.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed Henderson’s identity and notified his family, who are now left to cope with the sudden and devastating loss. As of Sunday, no arrests had been made, and police say the investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact BPD Homicide Detectives at 205-254-1764 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777 to provide tips anonymously.
For those who knew Anson, his death is not just another statistic — it’s the loss of a vibrant, caring man whose presence brought joy to many. Friends describe him as hardworking, loyal, and deeply committed to his family, especially his child. “He was the type of person who always tried to do right by people,” one family friend shared. “It’s hard to believe he’s gone.”
As detectives continue to work toward justice, the Birmingham community stands in mourning. Henderson’s loved ones are holding onto cherished memories and calling for peace amid their grief. His life, though tragically cut short, will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and the love he gave to those around him.
