WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — Authorities have identified the woman who died following an off-highway vehicle (OHV) crash earlier this month in Washington County. The victim, 45-year-old Angelina Tomas-Francisco, succumbed to injuries she sustained in the accident, officials confirmed.
According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Law Enforcement, the crash occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on February 7. Three adult women were traveling together along an overlook road when the OHV struck a pothole. The impact caused all three riders to be thrown from the vehicle.
Tomas-Francisco was riding as a passenger at the time of the crash. The driver, a 20-year-old woman, and another passenger, 18, also were involved. Both survived with minor injuries and remained at the scene following the accident. Authorities confirmed that none of the riders were wearing helmets when the crash occurred.
Emergency responders arrived quickly to provide assistance. Tomas-Francisco was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries, the DNR said. Officials have expressed condolences to her family and friends, calling the incident a tragic loss.
The Utah DNR Division of Law Enforcement is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. At this time, authorities have not released additional details or indicated whether any citations or charges will be filed. Officials urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the division.
Off-highway vehicles are widely used for recreation throughout Utah, especially along scenic or rural routes. Safety officials regularly remind riders to follow proper guidelines, including wearing protective gear, operating vehicles responsibly, and riding within their skill level. The tragic accident highlights the importance of safety measures while enjoying OHV activities, and the community has rallied to support those affected.
