OXON HILL, Md. — A tragic head-on collision in Oxon Hill early Friday morning claimed the life of 24-year-old Alex Rodriquez Hines of Bryans Road. The deadly crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on February 27, leaving Hines dead at the scene and another driver hospitalized with injuries. The incident has left family, friends, and the community in shock.
According to the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision in the area of Indian Head Highway and the Capital Beltway. When first responders arrived, they found Hines’ vehicle had been struck violently. Despite emergency personnel attempting life-saving measures, Hines was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Indian Head Highway as it approached the Capital Beltway overpass. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle collided directly with Hines’ southbound vehicle. The other driver sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where officials said their condition was serious but not life-threatening.
