FERRIDAY, La. — A deep sense of grief has settled over the Ferriday community following the tragic death of 20-year-old Tyran Ezell, affectionately known to many as “Bopete,” whose life was cut short after a shooting on the night of May 11. Family members, friends, and loved ones are now left mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his presence, personality, and the connections he shared with those around him.
According to authorities, officers with the Ferriday Police Department responded at approximately 9:50 p.m. to reports of gunfire at Moose Discount Liquor Store on Louisiana Avenue. By the time officers arrived, Tyran had already been transported by private vehicle to Trinity Medical Center, where medical personnel worked urgently to save his life. Despite those efforts, officials confirmed that he later died from injuries sustained in the shooting.
News of his passing quickly spread throughout Ferriday, bringing shock and heartbreak to many who knew him personally. To family and friends, Tyran was far more than the tragedy that ended his life. Known as “Bopete,” he was described as a familiar and valued part of the community — a young man whose laughter, conversations, and everyday presence left lasting impressions on the people closest to him.
