NASH, Texas — Authorities have released new information following Tuesday morning’s deadly shooting at Texarkana Aluminum in Nash, a tragic incident that left two people dead and shocked coworkers and community members across the Texarkana area.
According to investigators, 48-year-old Eddie Ray Hill Jr. was fatally shot after reportedly attempting to intervene in a domestic dispute involving coworkers at the manufacturing plant. Officials said the violence unfolded in the parking lot of the facility on Alumax Road, where emergency responders and law enforcement officers rushed after reports of gunfire.
Police identified the suspected shooter as 40-year-old Wendell Lane Champion Jr. of Hope, Arkansas. Investigators say Champion allegedly shot and seriously wounded his wife, Candis Jolene Champion, during the incident before taking his own life. Candis Champion later died from her injuries, leaving grieving family members and loved ones devastated by the tragic events.
