The Syracuse community is reeling after a tragic shooting on the city’s South Side Wednesday afternoon left one man dead and a young boy injured. The violence, which unfolded in broad daylight, has sparked fear among residents and renewed concerns about public safety in the area.
According to police, the shooting happened shortly after 3 p.m. near the intersection of Warners and Webster avenues, just off South Salina Street. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as multiple gunshots rang out, sending people running for cover. The sound of sirens quickly followed as emergency crews rushed to the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as 39-year-old Bossdon Pee. He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported to Upstate University Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arrival, leaving loved ones devastated by the sudden loss.
In a disturbing development, a 10-year-old boy was also struck during the incident. Police say the child was grazed in the leg by a bullet. He was taken to the hospital, treated for his injuries, and is expected to recover. Officials confirmed that the boy is not believed to be related to the deceased victim, highlighting the danger posed to innocent bystanders.
Investigators say multiple callers reported seeing several people running from the area immediately after the shooting. One man was reportedly seen fleeing while holding a gun, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Police are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information to step forward to help bring those responsible to justice.
