TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio — A tragic head-on collision in York Township on Monday afternoon has left one person dead and three others injured, sending shockwaves through the local community. The devastating crash occurred along Stonecreek Road and remains under investigation by authorities.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 1:15 p.m. on Stonecreek Road (County Road 21), just north of Circle Drive. Troopers reported that 24-year-old Dalton Miller of West Lafayette was traveling southbound when his vehicle crossed left of center and collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander.
The force of the impact caused the Toyota Highlander to veer off the roadway and strike a guardrail. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene to assist those involved and assess injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities confirmed that Miller was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. His passenger, 21-year-old Emily Harford of West Lafayette, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials noted that both Miller and Harford were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 33-year-old Alyssa Maculaitis of New Philadelphia, was also taken to a hospital with injuries. Her two-year-old son, who was secured in a car seat, was treated at the scene by paramedics. No update has been provided regarding the extent of injuries sustained by those hospitalized.
