CHICAGO, Ill. — A violent confrontation inside a home in Chicago’s West Garfield Park neighborhood ended in tragedy Monday night, leaving two people dead and a community in shock. According to Chicago police, officers were called to the 2800 block of West Washington Boulevard at approximately 9:45 p.m. after receiving reports of multiple individuals injured. When authorities arrived, they discovered that a serious altercation had taken place inside the residence involving two men, ages 44 and 31.
Investigators say the situation escalated quickly when one of the men produced a sharp object during the dispute. In response, the other man drew a firearm and opened fire. The 44-year-old man was struck multiple times during the shooting and sustained life-threatening injuries at the scene.
