Couple, Connie Edens & Donald Edens Found Dead in Township Home in Ravenna

RAVENNA, Ohio — The community is grieving the tragic loss of Connie S. Edens, 78, and Donald A. Edens, 70, who were found deceased inside their home in Ravenna Township on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The heartbreaking discovery has left family, friends, and neighbors in shock as authorities work to understand what happened.

According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 4000 block of Summit Road at approximately 3:18 p.m. When they arrived, there was no response from inside the home. While checking the property, deputies noticed an individual slumped over in a chair through a window, raising immediate concern.

Due to the urgent situation, deputies made forced entry into the residence. Inside, they discovered both Connie and Donald deceased. Preliminary findings indicate that Connie suffered a single gunshot wound to the back, while Donald sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Sheriff Bruce D. Zuchowski expressed his condolences to the family, calling the situation tragic. He stated that detectives are working carefully and thoroughly to determine exactly what happened.
