A tragic hit-and-run crash in West Park has claimed the life of 61-year-old Mishell Laurine Warner, leaving her family and the community searching for answers. The incident occurred early Monday morning near Barry Road and Hallandale Beach Boulevard, turning an ordinary day into a heartbreaking loss.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a woman lying in the roadway. When officers arrived, they found Warner seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound along Hallandale Beach Boulevard.
Emergency responders quickly transported Warner to Memorial Regional Hospital, where doctors worked to save her life. Despite their efforts, she later died from her injuries. Authorities noted that she was not in a designated crosswalk at the time of the crash, though the circumstances remain under investigation.
The driver involved in the crash fled the scene and has not yet been identified. Investigators say the vehicle continued eastbound without stopping, leaving behind a critically injured victim. The failure to remain at the scene has made the case even more distressing for both law enforcement and the victim’s loved ones.
Detectives are now working actively to track down the driver. Jose Guzman is urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that even small details could help lead to an arrest. Authorities have also announced a $5,000 reward for information that results in the identification and prosecution of the suspect.
As the investigation continues, the West Park community is mourning the loss of Mishell Laurine Warner. Her death is a painful reminder of the dangers on the road and the devastating consequences of hit-and-run incidents. Family members and residents alike are hoping for justice, as officials work to bring closure to a case that remains unresolved.
