Authorities in Tulsa have made an arrest following a shocking fatal shooting that took place at a trailer park earlier this week. The violent incident, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute over borrowed money, has left residents unsettled and searching for answers.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 3:35 p.m. on March 18, 2026, after receiving reports of a shooting near 2400 N. Fulton Avenue. When they arrived, they discovered 26-year-old Alexis Diaz-Vasquez lying in a driveway next to his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the initial 911 call came from a concerned friend who had been unable to contact Diaz-Vasquez. Worried for his safety, the friend went to check on him and instead made the tragic discovery, quickly alerting authorities to the situation.

As the investigation began, detectives used surveillance technology, including FLOCK cameras and the department’s Real-Time Information Center, to track down a suspect vehicle linked to the case. Officers later located the vehicle near 51st Street and Memorial Drive, where 20-year-old Wiyler Cabrera Abreu was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators believe the shooting was connected to a financial dispute. According to police, Abreu had borrowed a large sum of money from Diaz-Vasquez and had been asked several times to repay it. Authorities allege that Abreu arranged a meeting under the pretense of returning the money but instead attempted to use counterfeit movie prop cash, leading to a heated argument.

During questioning, Abreu reportedly gave inconsistent statements before later admitting he was present and responsible for the shooting, though he did not clearly explain his motive. He has since been booked into jail on a first-degree murder charge. Officials emphasize that the investigation is ongoing, and the charge remains an allegation as the community mourns a life lost in a senseless act of violence.
