The quiet community of Lexington has been left in shock and mourning after a tragic early-morning shooting claimed the lives of a woman and her young son on March 18, 2026. The heartbreaking incident has shaken residents, many of whom are struggling to understand how such violence could unfold in their neighborhood.

According to the Centennial Lakes Police Department, officers responded at approximately 12:52 a.m. to a home near the 9300 block of Ryan Place following reports of gunfire. Several agencies, including the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding police departments, quickly arrived at the scene alongside emergency medical responders.

When officers entered the residence, they discovered an adult female, identified as Jennifer Sue, deceased inside the home. Her juvenile son was also found at the scene with critical injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment, but despite efforts to save him, he later died, turning the incident into a double tragedy.

Authorities have not yet formally released the victims’ identities as they continue the process of notifying family members. The devastating loss has deeply affected the local community, with neighbors expressing grief and disbelief over the deaths of a mother and her child.

Following the shooting, law enforcement launched a search operation in the surrounding area, using a K-9 unit to track a suspect. An adult male, identified as Irving Marsaw, was later found and taken into custody. He was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation before further processing.

Investigators believe the incident is domestic-related and not a random act, adding that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case remains under active investigation, as officials work to uncover what led to the deadly violence. Meanwhile, the Lexington community continues to mourn, hoping for answers and justice in the wake of the tragedy.
