Jonal Hodge Killed in Domestic Shooting in High Point, Suspect Found Dead

The community of High Point, North Carolina, is mourning the tragic loss of 22-year-old Jonal N. Hodge, whose life was taken in a devastating act of violence during the early hours of March 18, 2026. Family members, friends, and loved ones are left heartbroken, struggling to come to terms with the sudden and painful loss of a young woman whose future was just beginning.

According to the High Point Police Department, officers responded around 3 a.m. to reports of gunfire at the Oaks at Silver Ridge Apartments, located in the 2900 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. When officers arrived, they found Hodge inside a vehicle in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The scene quickly became an emergency as officers rushed to help.

A responding officer immediately began providing aid while waiting for emergency medical personnel to arrive. Hodge was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where doctors worked urgently to save her life. Despite their efforts, she sadly died from her injuries a short time later, leaving her loved ones devastated.

Investigators say witnesses at the scene identified the shooter as Hodge’s boyfriend. According to early findings, the suspect approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots, striking the young woman. Just hours later, at approximately 7 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person entering a shed on Hendrix Street. As officers prepared to approach, they heard a single gunshot from inside. When they entered, they found a man suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later identified the man as 34-year-old Adrin K. Rome of Edenton, confirming he was the suspect in Hodge’s death. Officials say no other suspects are being sought at this time, and no officers were injured during the response. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of Jonal Hodge, remembering a young life taken too soon in a tragedy that has left lasting pain.
