14-Year-Old Kaden Melson Killed in Fiery Three-Vehicle Crash on KY 88 in Green County

A tragic three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Green County, Kentucky claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy and left several others injured, according to the Kentucky State Police. The devastating collision occurred on March 10, 2026, along KY 88, leaving the small community shaken by the sudden loss of such a young life.

Troopers from KSP Post 15 responded to the crash at approximately 9:10 a.m. near Greensburg, Kentucky. Preliminary investigations revealed that 14-year-old Kaden Melson was driving a 2009 Subaru Forester westbound on KY 88 when he entered a curve and lost control of the vehicle. The SUV crossed the center line of the roadway, setting off a chain reaction involving two other vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.

Authorities say the Subaru first sideswiped a 2006 GMC bucket truck driven by 54-year-old Patrick Elmore, who was traveling eastbound. After that initial impact, the Subaru then collided with a 2011 Ford F-350 driven by 31-year-old Willie Mosier of Cookeville, Tennessee. Shortly after the collision, the Ford truck caught fire.

Officials said Mosier managed to free himself from the vehicle and exit before the flames spread into the passenger compartment. Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene to control the fire and assist those involved in the crash. Despite their efforts, Melson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office.

Several passengers inside the Subaru were also injured in the crash. Angelo Forsee, 20, of Russell Springs, Kentucky was transported to University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries. Two other passengers, Adrian Crew, 32, of Columbia, Kentucky and Jacob Mann, 28, were taken to T. J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment. Authorities reported that both Elmore and Mosier were not injured.

Multiple emergency agencies assisted at the scene, including the Green County Sheriff’s Office, Green County Fire and EMS, Summersville Fire Department, Grab Fire Department, and the Green County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by Trevor Sagrecy as officials work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic collision.
