The small community of Knottsville is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old Brody Lanham, who died after a shooting early Saturday morning during a large gathering in the area. According to the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, Lanham was rushed to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital following the incident but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities said the shooting happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Kentucky Route 144 and St. Lawrence Road during what officials described as a large field party attended by many young people. Investigators believe an argument broke out during the gathering, which eventually escalated and led to gunfire.
During the shooting, a juvenile was also struck and suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Fortunately, officials reported that the injured teen received medical treatment and has since been released from the hospital. Authorities have not publicly released the identity of the juvenile due to age and privacy protections.
Investigators later determined that two men from Oldham County had traveled to the party after being invited by people attending the event. According to law enforcement, tensions reportedly grew between individuals at the gathering before a firearm was drawn and shots were fired, leading to the deadly outcome.
Following the incident, police arrested Ayden Louis Farrow, 19, of La Grange. Farrow has been charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension and tampering with physical evidence. A second suspect, James Carr, 20, later turned himself in to the Florence Police Department in Boone County Sunday night. Carr was wanted by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office on charges including murder, second-degree assault, and tampering with physical evidence. He has since been transported to Daviess County and remains in custody at the Daviess County Detention Center.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing. Detectives have continued conducting interviews, reviewing video evidence, and following up on leads in both Daviess and Oldham counties. Officials also attended Lanham’s autopsy in Jefferson County as part of the investigation. At this time, investigators do not believe any additional suspects were involved, but they continue encouraging anyone with information to come forward as the case moves toward prosecution. Meanwhile, family and friends are remembering Brody Lanham as a young man whose life was tragically cut short far too soon.
