62-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Route 82 Crash in Brookfield Township

A tragic motorcycle crash in Brookfield Township on Sunday evening has left one man dead and a teenage passenger seriously injured. Authorities from the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that 62-year-old David Rice lost his life in the devastating collision that occurred along a busy stretch of roadway in the township.

According to officials, the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday on State Route 82 near the intersection with Addison Avenue. Troopers say Rice, a resident of Sharpsville, was riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide westbound on the highway when the fatal crash occurred.

Authorities reported that Rice was traveling with 18-year-old passenger Angeleena Medovich at the time of the incident. As the motorcycle approached the intersection, a 2009 Nissan Murano driven by 87-year-old Elspeth McKeag attempted to make a left turn onto Addison Avenue.

Investigators say the motorcycle struck the right side of the Nissan during the attempted turn. The powerful impact caused severe injuries to Rice. Emergency responders arrived at the scene quickly, but despite their efforts, Rice was pronounced dead at the location due to the extent of his injuries.

The teenage passenger, Medovich, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Officials also confirmed that neither Rice nor Medovich was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Meanwhile, McKeag was taken to the hospital as a precaution following the collision but was later released after being evaluated.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation as troopers continue working to determine all factors that may have contributed to the collision. The tragic incident has left family members and loved ones mourning the loss of David Rice while hoping for the recovery of the injured passenger. The crash also serves as a reminder of the dangers motorists and motorcyclists face on busy roadways every day.
