19-Year-Old Pedestrian, Jayden Nelson Killed in Clermont County Hit-and-Run

Authorities in Clermont County are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Sunday morning and are asking the public for assistance as they work to identify the vehicle involved. The tragic incident has left a young life lost and investigators searching for answers about what happened along a quiet stretch of roadway.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Batavia Post, the crash happened at approximately 4 a.m. on Sunday along Bethel-New Richmond Road, east of U.S. Route 52 in Ohio Township. Troopers responded to the area after receiving reports of an individual lying in the roadway.

When first responders arrived, they located an unresponsive person in the road. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, authorities confirmed the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials later identified the victim as 19-year-old Jayden Nelson.

Investigators believe Nelson was struck by a vehicle that left the scene before emergency crews arrived. At this time, officials say the vehicle involved has not yet been identified. Troopers are carefully examining the roadway and surrounding area for evidence that may help determine what type of vehicle was involved and how the crash occurred.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the investigation remains active as officers review available information and follow leads that could help identify the driver responsible for the crash. Detectives are also working to piece together the events that led up to the collision during the early morning hours.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or noticed suspicious activity in the area around that time to come forward. Officials say anyone who saw a vehicle traveling along Bethel-New Richmond Road early Sunday morning or who has information that may help investigators is encouraged to contact the Batavia Post. Community cooperation, they say, could play a key role in bringing answers and accountability in this tragic case.
