Authorities in Conecuh County are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the city of Evergreen. The tragic incident resulted in the death of 19-year-old Melvontaie Loveless and left several others injured. The shooting has shaken the local community as investigators work to determine what led to the violence.
According to officials from the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. on March 8, 2026. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of West Front Street. When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they discovered multiple individuals who had been shot during the incident.
Tragically, Loveless, a resident of Greenville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that he died as a result of injuries sustained during the shooting. The incident has left family members and friends mourning the sudden loss of a young life taken far too soon.
