The community of Quincy is mourning the tragic death of 56-year-old Shane C. McDermott, who was fatally shot on the evening of March 4, 2026. The heartbreaking incident occurred at the former LaGondola building located at the corner of 8th and State streets. Police say officers from the Quincy Police Department were dispatched to the former restaurant building shortly before 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a burglary in progress.
