Nederland High School Student Jose Banda Killed in Tragic Auto-Pedestrian Crash

NEDERLAND, Texas — The Nederland community is grieving the devastating loss of 17-year-old Jose Manuel Banda, a student at Nederland High School, who was killed Tuesday afternoon in an auto-pedestrian crash in Jefferson County. The heartbreaking incident has left classmates, teachers, and loved ones struggling to come to terms with the sudden tragedy.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on Highway 69 North at Spurlock Road. Authorities said Banda was struck by a dump truck under circumstances that remain under investigation. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the injuries he sustained were fatal.

Officials reported that Highway 69 was shut down for several hours as deputies and investigators worked to examine the scene and gather evidence.
