NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The North Little Rock community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 47-year-old Russell Taylor, who was fatally shot early Tuesday morning at the Foothills Apartments complex. The tragic incident has left neighbors shaken and a family devastated by violence between two brothers.
According to the North Little Rock Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:28 a.m. on March 3, 2026, to 2401 Lakeview Road after receiving reports of gunshots in the area. When officers arrived, they located Taylor inside an apartment suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified the suspect as 41-year-old Courtney Taylor, also of North Little Rock. Authorities confirmed that the suspect and the victim were brothers. Courtney Taylor was taken into custody at the scene without incident as detectives began processing evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Following an interview with investigators, Courtney Taylor was formally charged with Capital Murder. In addition to the homicide charge, he faces several other serious offenses, including Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons. Authorities also charged him with multiple drug-related offenses, including possession of Schedule II substances — cocaine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone — as well as possession of Schedule VI with intent to deliver.
Courtney Taylor is currently being held without bond at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility. Officials have not released details about what may have led to the deadly shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine the events that unfolded inside the apartment.
