PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A tragic shooting early Saturday morning claimed the life of an adult male in Parkersburg, authorities confirmed. The Parkersburg Police Department identified the victim as Austin Lamb, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds at a residence in the 1000 block of 40th Street around 12:10 a.m. on February 28, 2026.
According to the Parkersburg Police Department, officers responded immediately to reports of a shooting and rendered life-saving aid to Lamb upon arrival. Personnel from the Parkersburg Fire Department and emergency medical services continued efforts to stabilize him, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The swift response of first responders, while critical, could not prevent his death.
Authorities quickly gathered information suggesting the involvement of an adult female suspect. Officers from the Parkersburg Police Department, along with deputies from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, located and detained 19-year-old Claudia Torres of Clarksburg roughly one mile from the scene at approximately 12:19 a.m. Torres was taken into custody without incident.
Claudia Torres has been charged with First Degree Murder in connection with the shooting. She was processed at the Parkersburg Police Department before being transported to the Wood County Holding Center, where she is being held pending her arraignment in Wood County Magistrate Court. Authorities have not released additional details about her motive or any prior relationship to the victim.
