Two Toddler Sisters Found Unresponsive in Backyard Pool in Katy

A quiet neighborhood in Katy is mourning the heartbreaking loss of two young sisters who were found unresponsive in a backyard swimming pool on Wednesday morning. Authorities confirmed that 2-year-old Kelsey Kite and 3-year-old Kinsley Kite were pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. The tragic incident has left family members, neighbors, and first responders shaken.

Emergency crews with Harris County Emergency Services District No. 48 and deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded around 11:30 a.m. to a home in the 21000 block of Creek Edge Court. The call reported a water-related emergency involving two small children. When first responders arrived, they immediately began lifesaving efforts.

Additional personnel from Harris County Emergency Services District No. 40 assisted at the scene, providing emergency medical care as CPR was performed. A helicopter from Memorial Hermann Life Flight was called to transport the girls to a nearby hospital. Despite extensive efforts by first responders and hospital staff, both toddlers were later pronounced dead.

Investigators said the girls lived at the home with their grandparents and mother. According to authorities, the grandmother discovered the children in the pool after returning home from grocery shopping. She reportedly pulled them from the water and called 911. Neighbors who heard her cries for help also contacted emergency services.

Officials stated that the children’s mother and grandfather were inside the home asleep at the time. They reportedly woke up after hearing the grandmother shouting. The exact circumstances of how the toddlers entered the pool remain unclear, and investigators are continuing to gather information.

As the investigation moves forward, loved ones are remembering the sisters for their bright spirits. Their uncle shared photos online, describing Kelsey and Kinsley as “the sweetest little angels who had some of the best personalities.” The community now grieves the devastating loss of two young lives taken far too soon.
