KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tragedy struck an early-morning gathering at Status KC, a nightclub near 28th Street and Southwest Boulevard, when gunfire erupted around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. The incident has left two women dead and two others hospitalized, including a man in critical condition, sending shockwaves through the Kansas City community.
Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded after receiving reports of gunfire at the nightclub. Upon arrival, officers found three women suffering from gunshot wounds. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were transported to local hospitals. Tragically, one of the hospitalized victims later died from her injuries, while the second surviving female victim remains in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have identified one of the deceased women as Eboni Silas. The identity of the second woman has not yet been released pending notification of her next of kin. In addition to the female victims, a man arrived at a hospital in critical condition, with injuries believed to be connected to the same incident.
Preliminary reports indicate that the shooting stemmed from an altercation involving multiple individuals inside the nightclub, which escalated into gunfire striking four victims. Authorities have not released detailed information regarding the circumstances that led to the dispute, and it remains unclear whether the individuals involved knew each other.
The Kansas City Police Department confirmed the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. Authorities are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
