75-Year-Old Jackie Scribner killed in Garfield County Crash in Waukomis

A tragic single-vehicle crash in Garfield County has claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Authorities identified the victim as Jackie Scribner of Waukomis. The fatal accident occurred Friday along a rural stretch of Imo Road, leaving the small community in mourning.

Troopers reported that Scribner was driving a 1963 Ford Falcon southbound on Imo Road, about a quarter mile south of Southgate Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and entered a ditch. Investigators said the car then struck a tree before going airborne, creating a violent chain of events.

According to OHP, after hitting the tree, the vehicle continued forward and struck a concrete culvert. The impact caused the car to roll approximately half a turn before coming to rest upside down in a creek bed. The crash scene showed the severity of the collision, with significant damage to the vintage vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Scribner did not survive her injuries. Officials confirmed that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Authorities often stress that wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the risk of serious injury or death in rollover accidents.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Troopers will continue reviewing evidence from the scene as they work to piece together the circumstances leading up to the crash. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident.

As the investigation continues, family, friends, and neighbors in Waukomis are grieving the sudden loss of Jackie Scribner. The tragedy serves as a somber reminder of the importance of roadway safety, especially on rural roads where unexpected hazards can quickly turn deadly.
