A devastating house fire late Friday night in Anderson has claimed the life of a 49-year-old man and left a woman seriously injured. The blaze broke out along Hall Road near Airline Road, drawing a large emergency response and leaving the surrounding community shaken by the tragic loss.
According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire with possible entrapment. When firefighters arrived, they found a mobile home completely engulfed in flames. Officials said two people were believed to be inside the residence at the time the fire started.
One woman managed to escape the burning home before conditions worsened. She suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center for specialized treatment. Her current condition has not been released. Authorities have not shared further details about her identity but confirmed she is receiving medical care.
The second occupant, identified as Michael Chris Robinson of Anderson, was unable to make it out. Robinson was found inside the home after firefighters worked to control the intense blaze. The coroner’s office confirmed that he died at the scene. His death has deeply saddened neighbors and first responders who battled the fire under difficult conditions.
Officials determined that Robinson’s cause of death was smoke inhalation secondary to thermal burns. The manner of death has been ruled accidental. Investigators believe the fire likely started from a heater that had been placed too close to combustible materials inside the mobile home, causing the flames to spread quickly throughout the structure.
