The deadly violence unfolded at the Hugine Suites student living complex, sending shockwaves through the campus community and prompting an immediate lockdown.

Henry L. Crittington, 19, died at the scene after suffering gunshot wounds. Terrell Thomas, 18, was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. Officials have not released further details about the events that led up to the shooting, and the loss of the two young men has left many in the area grieving.

A third individual was also struck by gunfire during the incident. Authorities have not disclosed the condition of that person. University officials confirmed that Crittington and Thomas were not enrolled students at the time of the shooting. However, the third person injured is currently a student at the university.

In response to the violence, the campus was immediately placed on lockdown as law enforcement worked to secure the area and assess any potential threat. Students were instructed to shelter in place while officers conducted a thorough search of the complex and surrounding grounds. The lockdown remained in effect until approximately 5 a.m. on February 13.

University administrators announced that all classes were canceled for the day following the shooting to allow students, faculty, and staff time to process the tragic events. Authorities have not announced any arrests, and no information has been released regarding possible suspects or a motive. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to determine what led to the deadly shooting.
