Jennifer Talley, 23, Fatally Shot in Calera; Suspect Charged

CALERA, Ala. — The Calera community is mourning the loss of 23-year-old Jennifer Talley, who was fatally shot late Thursday night at a residence on The Heights Drive. Officers with the Calera Alabama Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and, upon arrival, found Talley deceased inside the home. The tragic incident has left family, friends, and neighbors devastated as they struggle to process the sudden loss.

Investigators quickly secured the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to piece together what led to the deadly shooting. Authorities identified Noah Hendricks as a suspect in the case. Hendricks was later located in Clanton, Alabama, taken into custody without incident, and charged with murder. He was transported to the Shelby County Jail, where he remains while the legal process moves forward.

Police have indicated that the shooting stemmed from a domestic relationship. Chief David Hyche stated in a department release that many of the violent crimes they respond to involve domestic situations. He urged anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help before conflicts escalate. Officials stressed that early intervention and access to support services can make a critical difference.

The Calera Police Department offers assistance through a Victim Services Coordinator who helps individuals connect with resources such as counseling, shelter, and safety planning. Residents in need of help can contact the department directly at 205-668-3505. Authorities hope that increased awareness of these resources will encourage victims to come forward and receive support.

Several agencies assisted in the investigation and arrest, including the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Clanton Police Department, and Pelham Police Department. Officials thanked these agencies for their cooperation and swift response in locating and apprehending the suspect. The coordinated effort reflects the seriousness with which law enforcement treats domestic violence cases.

The investigation into Talley’s death remains ongoing as detectives continue reviewing evidence and conducting interviews. Authorities remind the public that a criminal charge is an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. As the Calera community grieves, officials are focused on ensuring justice is pursued while encouraging those facing domestic violence to seek help and break the cycle of abuse.
