Glen Blackwell III killed in fatal Jackson Apartment Complex Shooting

JACKSON, Miss. — Authorities have released the name of one of the victims involved in a deadly shooting Thursday at an apartment complex on Grove Circle near North State Street. The victim has been identified as Glen Blackwell III, who later died from his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

According to the Jackson Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at the apartment complex. When they arrived, they found Blackwell and another individual suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment. Blackwell later succumbed to his injuries, while the second victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the shooting involved five or six masked suspects. Investigators believe the incident may have been connected to a robbery. Authorities reported that the suspects fled the scene on foot before officers arrived, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Homicide detectives, along with the department’s Robbery Unit, are actively investigating the case.
