LA VERKIN, Utah — Authorities have identified the woman who died following a tragic off-highway vehicle (OHV) crash earlier this month on Overlook Road in La Verkin. The victim was identified as 45-year-old Angelina Tomas-Francisco, whose death has deeply affected her family, friends, and the surrounding community.
According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Law Enforcement Division, the crash occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. when an OHV carrying three adult women was traveling along the overlook road. Investigators said the vehicle struck a pothole, causing it to lose control and eject all three riders from the OHV.
Angelina Tomas-Francisco was riding as a passenger at the time of the crash. She was seriously injured and transported to a Washington County hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, officials said she later died from her injuries. The driver, a 20-year-old woman, and another passenger also were thrown from the vehicle but sustained only minor injuries and remained at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that none of the riders were wearing helmets when the crash occurred. Safety officials noted that protective gear, including helmets, is strongly recommended when operating or riding in off-highway vehicles, especially on uneven or unpaved terrain commonly found along scenic routes.
The Utah DNR Law Enforcement Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have not released additional details and have not indicated whether any citations or charges will be filed. Investigators are working to determine all contributing factors that led to the fatal accident.
Angelina’s sudden death has left a lasting impact on those who knew her. Family and friends remember her as a kind, vibrant, and caring woman whose presence brought warmth to those around her. Authorities extended their condolences to her loved ones and encouraged the public to prioritize safety while enjoying outdoor recreation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
