60-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in St. Petersburg Traffic Crash

ST. PETERSBURG — The St. Petersburg Police Department has identified a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday evening. The victim, 60-year-old Larry Darnell Brown of St. Petersburg, died following a pedestrian-involved crash on 4th Street South.

Authorities said the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Brown was crossing 4th Street South from east to west outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a southbound white 2025 Kia K4 sedan. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported Brown to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he passed away early Monday, February 9. His family has been notified.

Police reported that the driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene. Authorities said the driver cooperated fully with the investigation. Officials are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine how the incident occurred.

Brown’s death is being mourned by his family, friends, and members of the St. Petersburg community. Those who knew him remember him as a valued member of the community whose passing leaves a significant void.
