41-Year-Old Moises Gil-Benitez killed in Shooting Outside Santa Ana House Party

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Police in Santa Ana are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Saturday night outside a house party, leaving one man dead and two others injured. The incident has shaken the neighborhood as detectives work to determine what led to the gunfire and who may be responsible.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:10 p.m. to the 700 block of South Broadway after receiving reports of a shooting outside a residence where a house party was taking place. Multiple patrol units responded to the scene, where officers found several victims in the roadway.

When officers arrived, they discovered three people suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims included a 41-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, and a 37-year-old woman, police said. First responders immediately began life-saving measures on all three victims before they were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, the 41-year-old man later died from his injuries at the hospital. He was identified as Moises Rufino Gil-Benitez, a resident of Santa Ana. Police confirmed that his death is being investigated as a homicide. The other two victims remain hospitalized but are expected to survive, authorities said.

Investigators have not released details about what may have led up to the shooting or whether the victims were attending the party or were nearby when the gunfire erupted. As of Sunday morning, police said no motive had been determined, and no suspect information had been made public. Detectives are working to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the violence.

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Homicide Section is leading the investigation and is actively searching for additional witnesses. Detectives are urging anyone who attended the party or who may have seen or heard anything before or after the shooting to come forward. Authorities said information from the public could be critical in helping identify those responsible and bringing justice to the victims.
