ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. — A 70-year-old man died Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Rolling Meadows, authorities confirmed Thursday. Police said the crash occurred in the north suburban area along Algonquin Road near Meadowbrook Industrial Court, sending emergency responders to the scene and temporarily closing the busy roadway.

The victim was identified as William Capozzielli, who was immediately transported to a local hospital after sustaining serious injuries. Despite treatment, Capozzielli later died from the injuries he suffered in the collision, police said. Officers first located him lying in the roadway when they arrived at the scene.

Authorities said the crash happened during the morning hours and involved a red sedan, which was visible in news helicopter footage over the area around 11:30 a.m. Chopper 7 captured images of the scene while emergency crews and investigators worked to secure the location.
