PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — A Danville woman has died following a late-night single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Pittsylvania County, according to the Virginia State Police. The crash occurred along a stretch of Martinsville Highway and remains under active investigation by state authorities.
Virginia State Police said troopers were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to Martinsville Highway, approximately one-tenth of a mile east of Pineview Road, after receiving reports of a serious crash. When they arrived, they found a vehicle that had left the roadway and overturned after striking an embankment.
Investigators determined that a 2006 Pontiac Vibe was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. Police said the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, hit an embankment, and overturned. During the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining severe injuries.
The driver was identified as Brandi Lee Fisk, 33, of Danville. State police said Fisk was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Emergency responders transported her to Sovah Health in Danville for treatment. Despite life-saving efforts by medical staff, Fisk later died from her injuries, officials confirmed.
Troopers spent several hours at the scene documenting evidence, examining roadway conditions, and reconstructing the crash. Authorities have not released information about whether alcohol, drugs, or weather conditions may have played a role. The crash occurred at night, and investigators are working to determine all factors that may have contributed to the loss of control.
Virginia State Police said the investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released once it is complete. Officials also used the incident to remind drivers of the importance of wearing seatbelts and obeying speed limits, noting that seatbelt use can significantly reduce the risk of fatal injuries in crashes. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information is encouraged to contact the Virginia State Police as investigators continue working to determine what led to the deadly wreck.
