JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. — Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot to death during a welfare check Tuesday evening in Pinson. The discovery was made at a home off Old Highway 75, turning what began as a routine call into a deadly investigation.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to the residence around 7:42 p.m. after receiving a request to check on the well-being of someone at the home. When deputies arrived and entered the residence, they found a man unresponsive inside. Investigators later confirmed he had been shot.
The victim was identified as Terron Oshea Brown, 38. Emergency responders pronounced Brown dead at the scene. Deputies immediately secured the area as investigators began collecting evidence and documenting the scene. The home and surrounding property were taped off for several hours as the investigation continued.
Officials have not released details about how many times Brown was shot or how long he may have been inside the home before being discovered. Authorities also have not said who requested the welfare check or what concerns prompted the call. No arrests have been announced, and deputies have not identified any suspects at this time.
Neighbors described the area as usually quiet and said they were shocked by the heavy law enforcement presence. Several residents reported seeing multiple patrol vehicles and investigators outside the home throughout the evening.
