Ramirez Wilson died following disturbance call in Temple

A Sunday afternoon disturbance in Temple ended in tragedy after a 40-year-old man was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead, according to Temple Police. The incident unfolded in a residential area, drawing a heavy police presence and launching an active criminal investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the man’s death.

Temple Police said officers were dispatched just before 2 p.m. Sunday to the 1100 block of South 37th Street following a report of a disturbance. When officers arrived, they located a man lying unresponsive at the scene. Police immediately began CPR in an effort to save his life while waiting for emergency medical crews to arrive.

The victim was identified as Ramirez Wilson, 40, of Temple. Paramedics transported Wilson to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Police have not released details about the extent of his injuries or what may have caused his death, pending further investigation and autopsy results.

Authorities also identified a suspect connected to the case. Eddie Mathis Jr. was later located and interviewed by investigators. Temple Police had earlier asked for the public’s assistance in finding Mathis, but officials confirmed he has since cooperated with authorities. No other injuries were reported in connection with the disturbance.

The Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Unit of the Temple Police Department remained at the scene for several hours, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Investigators are working to establish a timeline of events and determine the circumstances surrounding Wilson’s death. Officials emphasized that the case remains active as detectives continue their work.
